Amazing Things Will Happen

Thanks to my sister/amazing web designer, Lauren, for sharing this wonderful video, which is inspirational in more ways than one.
Conan O’Brien Kinetic Typography from Jacob Gilbreath on Vimeo.

Titled “Kinetic Typography,” this project was created by Jacob Gilbreath, a student at Oklahoma State University. One of the first things you notice after pressing the play button is the crisp graphics, the creative manipulation of the text and the way the motion ties it together with the audio. As a developing web designer myself, I’ve been very intrigued by the use of typography on the web and in print, noticing it everywhere. Needless to say, this video is a gorgeous example of the endless possibilities of transforming words into visual art.

Aspire

ASPIRE! is a non-profit organization devoted to helping individuals move along the path to spiritual awakening. When they decided the old Aspire website was in need of a "breath of spirt," they called me. This newly enlightened website was actualized with the help of the Light of Peace theme along with some structural guidance from yours truly. Namaste!

RTC Pilot

RTC has been around for over 23 years and has trained over 11,000 pilots. Eventually it was time to ground the old RTC site in favor of a newer, shinier module. Introducing RTC Pilot 2.0, a brand new beauty with all the bells and whistles with minimal user training.

Starbucks Happy Hour, Business Cards and Entrepreneurial Dreaming

Anyone who knows me will be surprised to find out that I have not yet taken advantage of this amazing offer yet. But I am making a date with Starbucks this weekend. While I would usually consider myself more of an iced latte or black coffee kinda gal, something tells me a little Frappuccino boost will get me into a web designing frenzy!
Speaking of which, I’ve been working on a new personal portfolio website. I can’t wait to delete that disgusting “coming soon” placeholder on my homepage once and for all! Along with creating a branded website, I’ve been brainstorming ideas for business cards. I stumbled upon a really cool business card design last week and I thought it was ...

Fun Stuff I Discovered Today: tUnE-YaRdS, Wasted Tape, Micmacs

tUnE-YaRdS: BiRd-BrAiNs
Was researching cool record labels and bands in Portland and this album from Marriage Records caught my eye. Then the song caught my ear. listen to “Sunlight”.

Wasted Tape
This track from is awesome: “In The Nottingham”. Much to my dismay, the rest of the songs on the album don’t sound anything like it!

Micmacs
New movie from Jean-Pierre Jeunet!! (which reminds me I still need to watch City of Lost Children which has been on my netflix queue forever).

And a not-so-fun thing I discovered today:

International Star Wars Day

I’ve been excited for two major events this week…the return of LOST THE FINAL SEASON after a *gasp* one-week hiatus and Cinco De Mayo (excuse to pig out on taquitos and drink an ungodly amount of margaritas). However, I just discovered yet another exciting event to celebrate…International Star Wars Day. Yes, you heard correctly. A few simple google searches delivered an array of delightful past-times which I thought I’d share:

Wookepedia which has entirely way too much information for any one person to possibly know, or want to know.
50 Great Star Wars Band Names – versions of real band names with a star wars twist.
