Territory BBQ Opening Party
Being friends with associate editors of music websites definitely has its perks. Free concert tickets, photography gig opportunities and even manicures. Last week I had the pleasure of joining my friend as Beatcrave’s plus one at the opening of Territory BBQ, a new restaurant slash record store adjacent to Silverlake and Echo Park.
I must admit, I’m still feeling the effects. Not from the food… but from the free beer, which I might add was the perfect addition to my delicious meal of BBQ pulled pork and tatertots. Unlike many times when I am confronted with difficult decisions, I was delighted when I stumbled upon a plethora of BBQ sauce choices. Don’t believe me? See for yourself:

I have not even seen the record store yet I am sure this place is going to become one of my favorite hang outs, having successfully combined the two loves of my life: music and food. This is not to discount the other record stores that have opened in the same vicinity recently such as Origami Vinyl, who manages to have live music once a week in spite of their tiny, elongated space in echo park, and Vacation Vinyl which has an eclectic selection that could be considered rare even in LA. (who else has a section devoted entirely to “Unholy Metal”?!)
You can be sure you’ll see me at the grand opening of the Territory Record Shop this weekend. After talking to Ian, the store’s buyer, I am more than confident that the selection will be very interesting – even if there’s no free beer this time.
