Pictures: Anime Club @ The Scene

We just played our second show in LA last night at The Scene (our 4th of all time unless you count performing for Shane’s mom in the basement). The Scene was a pretty cool venue and while it didn’t have a bowling alley like Mr. T’s, there was a pool table. They also had drink tickets for us band people (which could only be redeemed for bud light but hey, at least it was free ) – and they are conveniently located next to Little Caeser’s Pizza which proved most helpful since we spent the majority of our night there and we needed sustenance.

We had fun watching the other bands play while trying to match the music up with the movie that was being projected onto the side wall. Enid and The Bowl’s tunes matched up surprisingly well with the weird dancing creatures in The Labyrinth though I must say the lead singer, Lauren, has a way better voice than the pink furry guy.   Toy Robot‘s tunes provided a new sonic perspective of Grandpa Joe’s strife in Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.  I picked up a copy of Vanaprasta‘s 4-song demo/cd thingy with a cool stencil of their drummer(?) making a deer -in-the-headlights, oh-shit-the-camera’s-pointed-at-me face.  Apparently they also have shirts with the same endearing photo screen printed smack dab in the middle.  Clever idea – now that I’m thinking, I have plenty of blackmail photos of Don

As for Anime Club’s performance, I will leave the critique to someone else.  But I can say I had a great time rockin out.  Thanks for everyone who made it to the show, Debbie for taking pics and Billy for being our roadie without us even having to ask.
