Art/Music Show @ The Airliner March 9th, 2009
If you’ve known me for any length of time, you know that I love to play music and that I have played live many times. There was a point where I stopped getting nervous before shows simply because I had finally reached that point where it was almost routine. Today I am definitely feeling the pre-show jitters for more than one reason. First, because this is my first time playing a live show in almost a year. Second, this will be my first time playing a show with my band (one of them), Exoneration. However, all of the reasons I’m anxious about tonight are the same reasons that I’m super psyched.
I’ve always been “that acoustic singer-songwriter” chick who frequents the open mics at the local coffee-houses. That was fun while it lasted and I learned a lot from a lot of great people, but I’m glad to say I’m finally moving on to the next phase -and with full force. I’m in not one – but two bands now and they have become somewhat like another full-time job, only it’s one that I love. We’ve all been working hard practicing religiously almost every day and putting together some demos which we recorded in the basement of our very own karma diamond, Auburn House. Now we are booking shows and reaching out to everyone and anyone who will listen. So tonight marks the beginning of a new exploration through music and I’m curious about what I’m going to learn. The show should be a lot of fun – even though I’m sacrificing a chance to catch a screening of Tokyo, the new film by favorite director.
