Have you ever heard a band’s name so many times you feel like you know their music but you never actually listened to their songs? Well, it happens to me. I know I’m not the only one when I say I’m kinda bored with music these days. I don’t like what’s on the radio and I must admit that I’m either too busy, too lazy or both to really explore the loads of new albums that come out every week. Basically, nothing really seems to catch my ear anymore and I’m tired of doing all of the legwork just to be disappointed yet again. Then I discovered RCRD LBL.
RCRD LBL is a “network of online record labels and blogs serving up fresh new music downloads and exclusive content every day.” I subscribed to their email newsletter a couple of months ago and can honestly say that I’ve found a couple of decent bands that I might not have heard about or really looked into otherwise. Head over to their site and get free downloads from artists like Walter Meego, Atlas Sound, Monotonix and more.
And while you’re there, check out three songs from mr. GNOME, an awesome up-and-coming band from Cleveland, Ohio that actually did catch my ear. They have been tagged with a quite unfortunate label of trip-rock. But just listen, cuz it’s worth it. They are currently on tour, so if you like what you hear, check out one of their upcoming shows.
If you are bored with the selection on your iPod lately, then I encourage you to head over to this site. There’s just something special about having a free mp3 waiting for you in your email every morning. It’s like a gift…you’d almost feel guilty if you didn’t listen. And here’s a tip – sign up with your work email. It almost makes the beginning of the workday something to look forward to… almost.
